LAKE OF BAYS

 

Lake of Bays is one of the major bodies of water rivaling Joseph, Rosseau and Muskoka lakes. It is east of Huntsville in the northern end of the Muskoka region. Lake of Bays is a beautiful lake with islands and bays, inlets and points making it not only a great fishing lake but a fabulous cottage destination lake. There are resorts and golf courses and marinas.  Bigwin Island is a popular destination for its famous golf course and fly-in golf charters. Watersports of all kinds are possible on Lake of Bays.

The town of Dwight is at the north end of the lake on Dwight Bay. The scenic town of Dorset is at the far east end of the lake. Its a very popular canoeing paddling route given that its connected to Kawagama Lake via the Hollow River. There are also numerous cross country ski trails at this end of Lake of Bays. Fish: smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, lake trout.
